Wakili Mannaseh Tunen Joins Cherangany Parliamentary Race.

Wakili Manasseh Tunen has officially joined the race for the Cherangany Parliamentary seat after launching his volleyball tournament in Kipkeikei, Cherangany Constituency.

An accomplished advocate, Wakili Manasseh brings extensive legal experience to the contest. He previously served on the UDA legal counsel team, was part of the presidential legal team, and has contributed to the development of policies for various organizations across Kenya. His legal background and leadership experience have shaped what he describes as a practical and results oriented approach to public service.

Speaking during the launch of the tournament, Wakili Manasseh said his vision is to bridge the gap between young people and the current leadership by fast-tracking meaningful youth inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.

On development, he pledged to leverage his networks and experience to attract projects that will transform the constituency. His priorities include expanding electricity connectivity, improving infrastructure, upgrading the road network, and ensuring roads remain accessible throughout the year.

He also emphasized the importance of fostering a cordial working relationship with the Trans-Nzoia County Government to strengthen collaboration and accelerate development initiatives for the benefit of Cherangany residents.
On sports, Wakili Manasseh said he has already established the volleyball tournament as a platform for identifying and nurturing local talent. The competition will feature two teams from every ward, one men’s team and one women’s team, bringing together a total of 28 teams for the grand finals. Outstanding players will be selected to form the Cherangany men’s and women’s super teams, with the aim of promoting talent, creating opportunities, and generating employment for young people through sports.

On agriculture, he pledged to champion the timely distribution of subsidized fertilizer while cracking down on hoarding and fertilizer cartels. He said these measures will help farmers access inputs on time, boost maize production, and improve household incomes across the constituency.

Wakili Manasseh Tunen hails from Kapcheplanget Village in Chepsiro/Kiptoror Ward, Cherangany Constituency. He comes from the wider Kaptunen family, a background he says has instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and community service. He noted that his roots in Cherangany give him a deep understanding of the constituency’s challenges and aspirations, strengthening his commitment to providing effective and people centered leadership.
